Spending control
Know exactly how much you can still spend.
Set one limit across every card you own. YourCardSentry warns you before you overspend — not after the statement arrives.

How it works
Three steps to stop overspending
No spreadsheets, no category tagging, no receipts to photograph.
- 1
Connect your cards
Link every bank and credit card through Plaid. Access is read-only — we can see transactions, never move money.
- 2
Set one limit
Pick a period that matches your paycheck — weekly, biweekly, twice monthly or monthly — and one amount across all cards.
- 3
Stay under it
Watch a single number. Get warned at 80%, 90% and 100% while there is still room to change course.
The rule that matters
Paying your card off does not reset your budget.
Most budgeting apps count a credit-card payment as a transaction and quietly hand you back the room you already spent. We do not. Purchases count, refunds subtract, and transfers, income and card payments never move the number.
This period
- Budget
- $1,000.00
- Purchases
- $900.00
- Card payment
- $900.00
- Spending used
- $900.00
Not $0. The payment settled a debt — it did not un-spend the money.
Alerts
Warned while you can still act.
Keep the defaults at 80%, 90% and 100%, or set your own. The alert arrives at the till, not in next month’s statement — and it never repeats itself.
Each threshold fires once per period. Over 100% you get one reminder a day, not one per purchase.
Security
Built like a bank app, because it touches your bank.
Read-only by design
Plaid gives us your transactions and nothing else. No path through this app can move your money.
Credentials never reach us
You sign in at your own bank. We never see, transmit or store your banking password.
Encrypted end to end
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access tokens are never written to logs.
Questions
The things people ask first
Can YourCardSentry move money out of my accounts?
No. Plaid gives us read-only access to your transactions. There is no code path in this product that can move, send or spend your money, because we never request the permission that would allow it.
Do you see my bank username and password?
Never. You sign in on your own bank’s page inside Plaid. Your credentials go from your device to your bank and are never transmitted to, or stored by, YourCardSentry.
Does paying off my credit card reset my budget?
No, and this is deliberate. If you spend $900 against a $1,000 budget and then pay the card off, you have still spent $900 this period — so your remaining budget stays $100. Card payments, transfers between your own accounts and incoming pay never reduce the amount you have spent.
What happens to a refund?
A refund reduces what you have spent, so your remaining budget goes back up by the refunded amount once the refund posts to the account.
Which budget periods can I use?
Weekly, biweekly, twice monthly, monthly, or a custom length. Biweekly is the common choice because it lines up with a paycheck. The period resets on its own and the previous one is kept, so you can see what you spent last time.
When do I get warned?
By default at 80%, 90% and 100% of your limit, and you can change those thresholds. Each one alerts you once per budget period, so you are warned while there is still room to change course rather than nagged about the same number repeatedly.
Can I put several cards under one limit?
Yes — that is the point. Pick any number of accounts and spending across all of them counts toward the same limit, so you see one number instead of reconciling three statements in your head.
Know what you can spend before you spend it.
